Rules of the Technology Fast 50 Challenge Award

Introduction

Before registering and participating in the “Technology Fast 50 Challenge Award” (hereinafter referred to as the “Challenge”), the participant must accept the Rules of the Challenge (hereinafter referred to as the “Rules”).

To accept the present rules, the User must electronically tick the following box.

“I have read and unreservedly accepted the Rules”

By electronically ticking the aforementioned box, the user makes a contractual commitment to comply with the Rules.

The Rules apply in addition to the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy, which apply to your use of the Deloitte Innovation Platform www.deloitteinnovationplatform.com

The Challenge is organized by Deloitte GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft.

 

  1. Who can participate? 

The Challenge is open to companies who meet the following criteria:

  1. The company is a technology company 
  2. The company was founded after 2010
  3. B2B or B2B2C business model
  4. Company sells their technology to large enterprise clients in Germany (Enterprise ready)
  5. Technology must be developed in-house and contribute significantly to the company's revenue. This tech is utilized to solve problems. The company owns proprietary intellectual property or proprietary technologies that are sold to customers in the form of products. The use of third-party technologies does not qualify for participation 
  6. Company has an operational team in Germany

2. Scope of the Challenge

The Challenge will take place from 25th of April 2019 until 11th of November 2020. The Challenge is divided into different stages of processing steps. These steps are defined in section 6.

The purpose of the Challenge is to reward companies with a pioneering solution in one of the categories, Future of Mobility, Future of Health, Future of Finance, Future of Work, and Future of Smart Cities compliant with the participation criteria as mentioned in 1.

The participation in the Challenge is free.

 

  1. Registration

Registration for the Challenge is completed exclusively online.

Any person who wants to participate has to be 18 years or older.

Personal data will be processed as described in the Privacy Policy.

To apply for the Challenge, the User must register by following the “Deloitte Innovation Platform” registration flow.  

To apply for the challenge, the User must check the box indicating that she/he accepts the Rules of the Challenge.

 

  1. Deliverables

The official language is English. All deliverables must be provided in English.

To apply for the Challenge Award, the User must provide further information by following the application flow. This information contains:

Please note: Sales revenues must be reported for the fiscal year ending in the calendar year concerned; the definition in Section 277 (1) HGB (German Commercial Code) must be applied. Please enclose extracts from the relevant annual fiscal statements at the end of your application as evidence.

Deliverables that require uploads and attachments must be sent in a common digital format, such as: DOC (max. 10 pages)/DOCX (max. 10 pages)/PDF (max. 10 pages)/PPT (max. 10 slides)/PPTX (max. 10 slides)/ODT/MP3/MP4.

If the deliverables sent by a participant cannot be opened or read sufficiently, the participant concerned will be notified and given an opportunity to re-submit the documents. Deliverables will only be accepted if submitted during each of the submission periods. If a deliverable is submitted after the submission deadline as described in 6.1., the participant concerned will automatically be disqualified from the Challenge.

Each participant warrants that the content of the deliverables includes only contributions made by him-/herself. If it appears that contributions have been made by a third party, the participant and related company will be disqualified from the Challenge. No copyrighted photos or images may be used in the deliverables. In any event, Deloitte GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft will not be responsible for the use of any images copyrighted by third parties.

The participant agrees that registration and application related information and deliverables will be shared with the Fast 50 Award sponsors/supporters as well as with the Challenge Advisory Board members.

By submitting the application, the participant agrees that the information submitted will be passed on to sponsors/supporters.

By submitting the application, the participant agrees that all registration and application related information and deliverables will be shared and published with third parties.

By submitting the application, the participant agrees to the further use of the data provided in the registration form for repeated contact. The participant agrees to the storage of the data for a further 18 months.

  1. Refusal of applications

Any User that does not abide by the Rules, Privacy Policy and Terms of Use during her/his registration or at any time during the Challenge, will automatically and without prior notification be disqualified from the Challenge and shall not receive any award. In the event that an award goes to a participant that does not or did not comply with the Rules, Privacy Police and Terms of Use at the time of her/his registration or during the Fast 50 Award, Deloitte GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft has the discretionary right to demand the return of the award.

Deloitte GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft may refuse registration for the event without having to state cause. As a matter of principle, there is no entitlement to participate in the Challenge. Likewise, Deloitte GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft reserves the right to exclude participants at any time from the Challenge who have already been admitted. This applies in particular in cases in which the Rules of the Challenge are breached, or if technical means or other manipulative aids are deployed. In such event, Deloitte GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft is entitled to revoke the prizes and/or to demand that they be returned, as the case may be. This shall also apply should the users fail to make truthful statements in providing their personal details.

  1. Timeline of the Challenge

The Challenge is divided into four stages.

  1. Application stage

 The application stage takes place from 25th of April 2019 to 30th of June 2019.

 By 11:59 pm (CET) on 29th of June 2019, participants must have finalized the complete application process including the required deliverables.


  1. Preselection stage

The preselection stage takes place from 1st of July 2019 to September 2019.

Evaluation will be based on the deliverables submitted by the company.

Finalists will be invited to the Pitch Day by Mail.

If the finalist does not accept the invitation within 1 week after receiving the mail, the company will be rejected from the Challenge automatically and without further notice.

  1. Pitch day

The Pitch Day will be held in beginning of September on-site. At the Pitch Day, the applicant will pitch in front of a Jury.

Deloitte will invite 10-20 companies to the Pitch Day where a representative will present the company in front of a Jury.

The Jury consists of Deloitte experts and external Partners.

The person who represents the company at the Jury day must be C-Level.

Travel expenses will not be covered.

A maximum of 5 companies, 1 per Challenge category, will be selected as the winner and be invited to the Final Event 1 week after the Selection Day.

Invitation will be sent via mail.

If the finalist does not accept the invitation within 1 week after receiving the mail, the company will be rejected from the Challenge automatically and without further notice.

  1. Final Event

Deloitte will invite the winner of each of the five categories to the final event in Berlin, which will take place on the 11th of November 2020.

Winners are expected to attend this event on-site and in person in Berlin. Travel expenses will not be covered.

The following data of a winner will be publicly announced at the final event and in various online channels.

Further, Deloitte Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft will shoot an institutional movie of the final ceremony, in which all participants in this stage are expected to participate. Deloitte will publish this movie on its websites and social media channels.

The Challenge trophy will be handed to the winners in person at the final event.

  1. Selection and reward of the Challenge Winners

 The Challenge Winners will be selected by a Jury that consists of Deloitte and industry partners.

The selection is based on the application criteria as described in 1. Further selection criteria will apply such as but not limited to the following:

  • Company performance
  • Founder Experience
  • Market potential to and potential to scale
  • Business impact for Deloitte

Further criteria will be applied during the selection process.

The winners of the Challenge will receive the Deloitte Fast 50 Challenge Award media kit to use for own marketing purposes.

  1. Notification of the results of the preselection and Final Event

 Deloitte GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft will inform all participants of the preselection results by no later than September 2019. Notification will be sent via e-mail to the address entered at the time of account creation at https://www.deloitteinnovationplatform.com/ and via notification to their https://www.deloitteinnovationplatform.com/ account. Deloitte GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft reserves the right to change the dates of notification of the results if this should become necessary due to the number of projects to be evaluated. Each pre-selected participant must respond to any email sent by Deloitte GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft or its subcontractors before the specified deadline in the message has lapsed. Otherwise, Deloitte GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft reserves the right to disqualify the defaulting participant and the related company application.

  1. Privacy Policy

 Deloitte GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft stores and processes your personal data as defined in the Privacy Notice of the Deloitte Innovation Platform https://www.deloitteinnovationplatform.com/ and in accordance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

  1. Final clause

 These Rules including exhibits and all matters relating to the Rules (including non-contractual obligations) shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany (without giving effect to the choice of law principles thereof). The venue is Munich, Germany.
